Leon Breitling was a watchmaker in St. Imier. He soon became widely recognized for his skilled pocket watchmaking and developed a formidable reputation. After this, Breitling started making chronographs as these were in demand for industrial and military organizations. After Leon Breitling passed away in 1914, the watchmaking business became a family affair. His son, Gaston Breitling, took over the business.
